Friday 28 Oct 16

The Roroseca project

The workshop is one of the dissemination events of the Roroseca project at DTU - funded by the Danish Maritime Fund (DMF). The main objective of the project is to identify and assess possible technical, operational, regulatory and financial measures for the mitigation and reversal of the negative repercussions of environmental legislation to the market shares of RoRo shipping in Northern Europe.

Workshop sponsors

On October 25th DTU hosted a workshop on Green Maritime Logistics as a part of the Danish Maritime Days.

The workshop at DTU aimed at a discussion and debate on how to best balance the economic and environmental performance of the maritime supply chain.

The workshop was recorded and is now available to watch at the DTU Management podcast channel - look under "Danish Maritime Days 2016”. The recordings can also be found on youtube. Below you can find links to the presentations (youtube) in accordance with the workshop programme.

Issues discussed at the workshop

Typical problems in maritime logistics include optimal ship speed, routing and scheduling, fleet deployment, network design, modal split, transshipment, queuing at ports, and terminal management. The traditional analysis of these problems has been in terms of cost- benefit and other optimization criteria. The workshop Green maritime logistics brings the environmental dimension into the problem by analyzing various trade-offs and exploring ‘win-win’ solutions.

The workshop presented a mix of academic and industry speakers on the issues that are at stake in green maritime logistics and on how one can balance the economic and environmental performance of maritime supply chain.
